“A father holds his daughter’s hand for a short while but he holds her heart forever.” Unknown

This is the third Father’s day without my father and I miss him dearly.  I spent the day with my family switching out flowers on his crypt and reflecting on the love we share as a family.  Although Father’s day doesn’t get any easier, it does become more bearable.  My daddy wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for our imperfect family.  And I am grateful to GOD for the man HE selected to be my father, my daddy.  Do you have fond memories of your father?  Was or is your dad A LOVING FATHER?  I sure hope so because MINE WAS!!!  So for the week’s blog, let’s talk SHIP about A LOVING FATHER!!!

When I think about the duties of A LOVING FATHER, the words protect and provide comes to mind.  A LOVING FATHER becomes a “daddy” when his sole purpose is to protect and provide for his family. A LOVING FATHER makes every effort to protect and shield his children from the world’s dangers. He creates a safe environment where he encourages his children to thrive and grow.  A LOVING FATHER teaches us the importance of being resilient and instills in us that we can do anything we set our mind to. He teaches us to trust GOD, how to pray and encourages us to always keep the faith.  A LOVING FATHER prepares us for a life without him.  Unbeknownst to his children, with every interaction, he gives us the tools, we’ll need to survive long after he’s gone. A LOVING FATHER’S love will live in our hearts long after he departs this earthly existence.

Over the past few months and just last week, I’ve had friends that have lost their fathers, and I’ve reminded them how blessed we were to have had our LOVING FATHERS for as long as we did.  A LOVING FATHER teaches us how to receive and give love.  A LOVING FATHER welcomed being a girl dad long before it was a popular hashtag. So we salute those LOVING FATHERS that took their GODLY assignments seriously and that made (or are making) invaluable contributions in the lives of their children and their families.

Today I wish my daddy, Johnny Lathern, and LOVING FATHERS everywhere- alive or living in glory-a very Happy Father’s Day!!!  LOVING FATHERS, we love and appreciate you!!!
